当年一起在内蒙插队的哥们儿，陆陆续续地返了城，只有他们的大哥肖志成留在了内蒙草原，一直到退休才返回了他阔别三十几年的城里…… 回到城里的肖志成发现当年的生死之交，在这些年的城市生活中，过得都很辛苦，当官的有当官的难处，小老百姓有小老百姓的辛酸……。故事以清末民初为背景展开，讲述湖北某小镇发生了一起轰动的杀人劫镖案，走镖人秦刚诡异惨死，小镇警探邓泷被任命调查。邓泷和助手宋飞烟勘察现场后不久，便将嫌疑人锁定为一名叫陈天河的男子。被捕的陈天河对案件供认不违，直接承认了杀人案是自己所为，这让邓泷心生疑惑，随即派宋飞烟继续调查，搜集有可能会遗漏的细节。案情就在此时向着意料之外的方向展开，事情远没有邓泷等人想象的那么简单。原来，这一切都始自于十年前的一宗被错判的案子……。A group of students who are participating in a university's summer science camp are drawn into an incredible quagmire of conflicts, ranging from the relatively simple conflict between an engaging and forthright young teacher and his older manipulative colleague, to a contest pitting political correctness against free scientific inquiry.
