某市萃英中学内拥有一支声名远播的足球队，可是为人所知并不是因为他们踢得好，恰恰是踢得太臭了才遭到别人百般嘲笑与轻视。为此，该校校长钟艳（曾黎 饰）愁眉不展。恰在此时，钟艳在一次聚会上邂逅了性格张扬但谈吐不俗的穆奇（胡歌 饰）。穆奇原本开设一家足球培训中心，但因种种原因而陷入僵局。在得到钟艳的邀请下，他决定前往萃英中学担任足球队的教练。突然之间空降的穆奇，自然无法取得队员们的信任，他让这帮脚臭脾气更臭的球员和自己调教过的小学生队伍进行对抗，由此彻底降服了这群刺儿头。 训练过程中，孩子们渐渐发生改变，而穆奇也意外发现自己的身上也有了一些变化……。Genre cinema lends itself to fruitful experimentation and Vourdalak is a prime example, offering ample opportunities for it along with dark, profound chills and a delightful Gothic atmosphere.
